About Daren
Daren Hubbard is an award-winning technology leader with more than 25 years of leadership in higher education and strategy. He joined Georgia Tech as its Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in September 2020. Over the past three years, Hubbard has established a five-year strategic plan rooted in continuous improvement and digital transformation, and implemented an enterprise-wide data strategy for the Institute. He also actively guides efforts to strengthen technology governance, operational excellence, and innovative technologies needed to advance the Institute’s academic and research mission.
Hubbard’s career includes experience in strategic leadership, application development, project management, and mobile technology. He previously served as chair of Merit Network’s board of directors and is an active member of numerous higher education technology advisory groups. He is also a recipient of the 2022 Higher Education IT Executive of the Year Award.
Hubbard is a certified project manager and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, as well as a Master of Library Science and a Master of Business Administration - both from Wayne State University.
