Centralized management of Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) configurations on backbone and edge network equipment on the Georgia Tech network.

Support Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00AM-5:00PM EST

The following maintenance windows are reserved for installing, repairing and patching various components of this service:

  • Every Tue, 5:00AM - 7:00AM EST
  • Every Thu, 5:00AM - 7:00AM EST
  • The third Sat of each month, 6:00AM - 12:00PM EST



Service limited to Building Administrators and respective IT Staff.

Support Information: 

VLAN changes can be made via self-service by authorized users or initiated by a service request.  Requests for new or modified VLANs must be evaluated prior to approval by OIT.


A Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) facilitates "localized" routing and resource sharing capability for any computer on the campus network even if they are not located in the same physical location. By using MultiVLAN, campus departments can decrease the number of network connections (and the associated costs) needed to support servers and firewalls that span multiple networks.
