Goal 1
Goal: Promote inclusive innovation in the enterprise
by adopting novel approaches or uses of technology within OIT, with a focus on enabling learning and success for all.
Objective 1:
Develop processes, capabilities, and resources that rapidly support innovation requests from the Georgia Tech community, including non-traditional areas of computing.
-
Strategy1: Partner with distributed IT and other GT units to develop an emerging technology and innovation program that provides mentorship and learning opportunities around the principles and methodologies of innovation and futurism, and establishes trends that will guide investments in both exploration pilots and resources to support future innovation.
-
Strategy 2: In partnership with Distributed IT and other Units, develop and maintain a roadmap that supports the emerging technology and innovation program and evolves as the Georgia Tech landscape evolves.
-
Strategy 3: Create a program to support IT focused improvement or innovation projects where use of an existing pool of resources (e.g., virtual machines, storage, cloud capacity) can be requested on a short-term basis to support pilots and exploration by OIT or distributed IT Teams. The program will have minimum-level accountability by requiring a short request process to detail anticipated Objectives and Key Results, and expect knowledge sharing with the rest of the community.
-
Strategy 4: Create an innovation fund that can be used by the OIT Leadership to fund or support little bets (e.g., cross-functional and/or cross-unit virtual teams that explore emerging services or technologies) in response to specific emerging tactical or strategic needs from the Institute or clients.
-
Strategy 5: Create and implement a strategy that connects faculty and students within non-traditional computing areas with computing resources provided by OIT.
Objective 2:
Partner with students and student-facing organizations to provide technology solutions that drive innovation, enhance the student experience, and improve student success.
-
Strategy1: Create a program to provide yearly baseline allocation of resources (e.g., virtual machines, storage, containers, or cloud services) to support student organizations' initiatives that promote innovation and improve student experience.
-
Strategy 2: Create a program that will provide OIT and distributed IT personnel with opportunities to become a mentor and provide technology guidance to student organizations or student competition teams (for example, SuperComputing, VIP).
