Phase I: Vision, Mission, and Goal Statements
Development of a Draft Strategy Document
Deliverables:
- Mission and Vision Statements
- Strategic Theme Focus Areas
- Goals and Objectives
The strategic plan is the culmination of a six-month process, which included the collaboration and exemplary work of a steering committee, comprised of leaders and representatives throughout the Office of Information Technology, along with representation from college IT directors, faculty and staff members, and student leaders. The committee was charged with establishing a five-year strategic plan to support the goals of the Institute and set direction for IT investments and priorities. The committee was also asked to address opportunities to strengthen coordination of activities within IT and create a standard of excellence around those activities. Following this process, OIT's senior leadership team was charged with reconciling these goals with the Institute goals to develop an implementation plan with measurable strategies and tactics.

The Process
Once OIT strategic goal statements and objectives were drafted by the steering committee in April, the SLT was then charged with identifying opportunities for the further alignment and refinement of goals, objectives, and strategies - while simultaneously utilizing feedback from key stakeholders. This included three phases:
Feedback
- Gathered and incorporated feedback from the IT community and the Institute’s Executive Leadership Team
- Feedback centered on ensuring goals, objectives and strategies would be succinct, measurable, and aligned with future priorities
- Feedback also stressed the importance of supporting Institute values and emphasizing that students are our top priority
Alignment
- Evaluated content to ensure there was alignment and continuity with the mission, vision, goals, and objectives outlined in the draft strategy document as well as with the Institute’s Strategic Plan and the A&F Strategic Plan
Refinement
- Identified areas of redundancy and overlap, consolidated and streamlined goals and objectives where necessary
- Developed strategies that support each objective and provide a high-level roadmap by which we can accomplish the work outlined within the strategy document
