To keep our information safe, the Institute requires that all students, faculty, and staff use two-factor authentication when accessing campus services and systems. This new standard will strengthen the protection of employee and student data and will maintain compliance with University System Information Security policy.
What options are available for using Two-Factor Authentication?
Depending on your workstation, device, and work environment, you have several options for utilizing two-Factor Authentication (2FA) at Georgia Tech. Instructions for GT Two-Factor Authentication Enrollment
If you are a student, faculty or staff, and need to enroll in Two-factor Authentication using Duo, please follow the instructions below. Please prepare for two-factor authentication enrollment by downloading the Duo app and following the instructions for iOS and Android on the "Pre-checklist for Enrolling in Two-factor Authentication".

- As a credit student (online, or in person), you will have 10 class days to enroll and be using Two-factor Authentication. Enforcement will take place on the 3rd Monday of classes each semester. Classes start on a Monday and on the third Monday Enforcement will take place.

- What do I do if I see the Georgia Tech Login Service Attention page?
- If you are currently seeing the Georgia Tech Login Service Attention page displaying that you are required to enroll in Two-Factor Authentication, you will need to self-enroll. Find detailed steps to self enroll in two-factor authentication.

- Why am I seeing two-factor log in is needed: Access Denied?
- If you are seeing on or after the third Monday the "Access Denied" message, it means that you are not yet enrolled in the Georgia Tech Two-factor Authentication Service. Find detailed steps to self enroll in two-factor authentication.

- What happens if you are "required" to use Duo Two-Factor Authentication (Duo 2FA) with your Georgia Tech (GT) account, but you do not have it set up yet?
- If you have not set up Duo 2FA with your GT account but are required to use it, you will see login errors on Duo 2FA-enabled applications.
- What if I don’t have a smartphone or a phone compatible with the Duo app?
- If you don’t have a smartphone, you can use a tablet, security key or passkey.
- How do I change phone numbers for my Duo account?
- You can add the new phone number on your Duo device via passport. Of course, you can also remove the old phone number if it should no longer be trusted.
- How do I change phones for my Duo device?
- You can add a new phone via passport (https://passport.gatech.edu/two-factor/add-phone).
- What should I do if I lose my registered device?
- If you have lost your phone and you have set up a secondary Duo option (i.e., another device and/or printed backup codes), you will use the secondary option. Please log in to passport and click the Remove/Report the missing device link to remove the missing phone from your Duo devices and set up a better alternative if needed.
- How can I assist other people login without their device?
- You can help someone login without their device via the “Assist Another Person” page in passport (https://passport.gatech.edu/assist) if you are Georgia Tech Faculty or Staff or they list you in advance as a trusted person.
- How do I log in if I don't have a device with me?
- If you don't have one of your Duo devices handy, you can enter a code into the Duo panel to log in without a device. There are 4 ways to get a code: Use a backup code, get a rescue code from a trusted person, get a rescue code from an authorized person, Get a rescue code from ASC
